Equipment

  • Air Fryer
  • Small Mixing Bowl

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 6 frozen meatballs or homemade
  • 2 hoagie rolls soft interior, crusty exterior
  • 1/3 cup marinara sauce warmed
  • 4 slices provolone cheese or mozzarella

Garlic Butter Spread

  • 2 tbsp butter melted
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning

Instructions

  • Preheat your air fryer to 370°F (185°C). If using frozen meatballs, ensure they are fully thawed for best results.
  • In a small bowl, mix the melted butter with garlic powder and Italian seasoning.
  • Split the hoagie rolls lengthwise, but not all the way through. Brush the garlic butter mixture generously on the inside of the rolls.
  • Place the rolls in the air fryer basket (open side up) and toast for 2-3 minutes until slightly golden and crisp.
  • Remove rolls. Layer 2 slices of cheese on the bottom of each roll, top with 3 meatballs each, and spoon warm marinara sauce over the meatballs.
  • Top with the remaining 2 slices of cheese per sub. Return to the air fryer and cook at 370°F for 4-5 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and meatballs are heated through.
  • Let cool for 1 minute before serving to allow the cheese to set slightly.
